In the Valley

God has made so many of my dreams come true. I have wanted to do this since I was a little girl and I am so blessed to be here. I don’t know how to explain exactly, but in the midst of being so happy and content, it was also the hardest year of my entire life. God has exposed so much of my sin to me and while it is discouraging and humiliating at times, it has also been hopeful and encouraging. I know that as God reveals my sin to me he also reminds me that He has already overcome. I am no less loved because of it.

This morning we were singing “In the Valley” and this whole past year just came rushing back to me.

And though my humbling wouldn’t be my decision
It’s here Your glory shines so bright

These lines are just so true. I would never have chosen this humbling process, but I can see God working in it and all I want in my life is for His glory to shine through. I hope these words bless you as they did me this morning!

In The Valley
Words and Music by Bob Kauflin

When You lead me to the valley of vision
I can see You in the heights
And though my humbling wouldn’t be my decision
It’s here Your glory shines so bright
So let me learn that the cross precedes the crown
To be low is to be high
That the valley’s where You make me more like Christ

Let me find Your grace in the valley
Let me find Your life in my death
Let me find Your joy in my sorrow
Your wealth in my need
That You’re near with every breath
In the valley

In the daytime there are stars in the heavens
But they only shine at night
And the deeper that I go into darkness
The more I see their radiant light
So let me learn that my losses are my gain
To be broken is to heal
That the valley’s where Your power is revealed
